Leave it to Cleavers vs Sisters of No Mercy

The Cleavers and Sisters got the Salt City Derby Girls 2009 season off to a fast-paced and physical start last night at the Salt Palace. But ultimately, the Cleavers were able to hold the Sisters and get the win 131-107.

How is it Friday, March 27 Already?

Sorry that I've been MIA for a while. I've got a lot going on in my personal life with my kiddo and roller derby. Game day tomorrow, though! I feel sorry for those Sisters of No Mercy because, wow, do I have a lot of steam to blow off.

March Madness 2009

Modern Love - NY Times Series

Have you seen any of these columns? The New York Times has a collections of columns called Modern Love. Last Sunday, this column ran and I thought it was so touching and beautiful that I wanted to share it. Layng Martine Jr. describes his relationship with his wife before and after the car accident that left her a paraplegic. Perhaps I'm more of a romantic than I typically admit to but reading this made me think that for better or worse never rang more true.

Review: Dial2Do

I am loving this cool service Dial2Do. It uses voice command to do all types of different functions such as send a text or email, update your twitter status, leave yourself reminders, and add notes to Evernote. The service is free but you'll need to set up an account and Dial 2 Do will provide you with a phone number to add to your mobile phone. Then, you just dial the number and you'll be asked what you'd like to do.

I use this service frequently to send a text message to family as I'm walking through the parking lot after work to let them know if I'm running late or need to make a stop on my way home. I use the reminder feature quite a bit too. I have been known to be sitting at a stoplight and suddenly remember that we are running low on dishwasher detergent, so I'll hit Dial2Do on speed dial, say 'reminder: buy dishwasher detergent' and when I get home there is an email reminder in my inbox and I can then add detergent to my shopping list! If you are an Evernote user you can also send notes directly to your notebooks. If you aren't an Evernote user, hang tight, I'll be writing up a review on that soon.

Masquerade Ball - The Aftermath

The Salt City Derby Girls' Masquerade Ball was last weekend and great time was had by all. Although, the next morning might have been a bit rough for a few who shall remain nameless. A special shout out to Lez & Vick who stole the show with their costumes and to one of refs, Stu Pidasso, for killing it on karaoke.
